*Important information About this Fabulous Fabric BELOW:
If you've found Osnaburg by way of my A Scrappy Little Joy youTube channel, you know it's one of my favorite old-world sorts of textural fabrics that's great for multiple cottagecore/burrow core sewing, including quilting! It does have some special care needs you'll want to bear in mind as you create with it. SEE BELOW.
About SHRINKING:
In short: You can expect your Osnaburg to shrink 8% with its first wash. Therefore, you will always want to wash in hot water and tumble dry on high heat before you cut to account for this shrinkage. It will come out of the dryer wrinkled around the edges. Finally, it also creates the loveliest 'crinkle' effect once it's quilted and after it's washed.
Various uses for Osnaburg: Drapery, apparel, table coverings, napkins, pillows, crafts, handmade chenille cloth, period costumes, mug rugs, placemats, furniture throws and more.
"How do I know how much to order?" Great question! You can expect this fabric to shrink 4" lengthwise for each yard of fabric. So if you order 2 yards, without fail - once washed and dried, you will have 1 yard 28", and so forth. Although you may read elsewhere that it can also shrink up to 3" widthwise, I have never found this to be true. This fabric is 46" from selvedge to selvedge, and once washed - it will be 46" from selvedge to selvedge.
